We've had it in the UK for years. You have to put a £1 coin in. Nobody has coins these days, its hard enough even to find a cash machine to get notes. Some people seem to think it worth paying £1 just to take the cart and dump it in the local stream or river.
This is very common in Israel, but they charge 5 or 10 shekel - or around 1.50 to 3 dollars, enough to matter.
right, that would work. but also works because there are 5 or 10 shekel coins. I don't think people regularly carry dollar coins in the US.
